WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Beginning counseling can be an intimidating process.  It is important to me that you have as much information as possible prior to our sessions.

  • Prior to coming in for an appointment you will want to call Delta Behavioral Health at 910-343-6890 to schedule an initial/intake appointment.  If you are not ready to schedule an initial appointment you may ask to be put to my voicemail for a free 15 minute phone consultation to make sure I am a good fit for you personal needs.

  • There is a LOT of paperwork.  You will need to fill out paperwork for Delta Behavioral Health and for Confident Hope Counseling. Because there is so much paperwork, you will want to arrive about 45 minutes early to your appointment to complete all the necessary paperwork.  If you prefer you can also print the paperwork from on-line and bring it with you to our first session.  If you decide to do this you will only need to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment so that you can be checked in.

  • If your session is in person you will wait in a shared lobby and I will come and get you.  If your session is on-line I will send you a link that you will receive a few minutes prior to our session.  If you have trouble connecting through a link please contact Delta Behavioral Health via telephone and they will help us get connected.

  • During our first session I will review the paperwork and ask several questions about what has led you to seek counseling and what you hope to get out of counseling.

  • Together we will come up with a course of action to reach your desired goals.

  • You will typically be given homework to work on each week as well as skills to practice in and out of session.

  • Throughout treatment we will review progress and goals, making adjustments as needed.

  • Our sessions will last approximately 45-50 minutes.

Important Note

I work as an independent practitioner at Delta Behavioral Health.  That means that my office is located in their building and I utilize some of their office staff in running my business.  You will not find any signage specifically for Confident Hope Counseling, even though that is the name of my private practice.

There are several other practitioners at Delta Behavioral Health that also operate their own practices.  We work together to make sure you have complete access to mental health care, however our policies, pricing and practices are unique to each one of us.
